Three Non-roster Minor Leaguers Invited to Spring Training

The number of non-roster invitees at spring training increased to 25 on Friday, when the Pirates added minor league catcher Hector Gimenez as well as shortstops Doug Bernier and Brian Friday to the list.

Bernier, 29, had a .181 batting average and 20 RBI for Class A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last season.

Friday, 24, hit .265 with seven home runs and 46 RBI for Double-A Altoona.

The 27-year-old Gimenez split time with Altoona and Class AAA Indianapolis, where hit hit .268 with two homers and 20 RBI.
