A line-up of McCutchen, Tabata, Walker, Alvarez, Jones/Diaz, Overbay/Pearce, Doumit/Snyder and Cedeno has potential for much improvement. The question is, will a rotation of Correia, Maholm, Ohlendorf, McDonald and Lincoln/Morton/Olsen be good enough to compete on a regular basis? PL view post
lack of run production and future
With the pirates inability to score runs these moves need to done. First, with the pirates having depth at pitching they should not resign Malholm and use the money to go after a power hitting outfielder, Ryan Ludwick has been a disappointment all of hits have been singles and shows no power when Tabata or Pressley comes back ludwick should be demoted to a bench player. Also the pirates should see if malholm clears waivers and if so they should try to trade him. Second the pirates need to resign derrick lee when healthy can be a productive player and they have no 1st baseman in the minors ready to step up and steve pearce needs to be released after the season he had many opportunties in the majors and has failed everytime he has been brought up. view post

The pirates have not been hitting very well and haven't been scoring many runs since the all star break would a change in the hitting coach make sense. view post

They must be getting tired of Cedenos bone head plays (bunting with the bases loaded) etc. I would have cut B. Wood and kept Harrison at 3rd base every day. Trade Overbay and put Alvarez at 1st when he comes back. view post

Just wanted to share with Pirates fans a website called ***********FromThisSeat****. It will allow you to share your thoughts on the seats you had at PNC Park or any other venue from the NHL, NBA, NFL or MLB. In return, you will help other Pirate fans decide where to sit before they buy their tickets. view post

Had a great time at PirateFest this year. Need more kids freebies, though. I'd like to think that Hurdle was a breath of fresh air, not hot air. view post

Funny how some of the same people that complain about Bautista also want Milledge benched or traded, isn't it? PL view post
2010 outfield production

Can Milledge, McCutheon and Jones produce 60+ home runs and 210+ rbi's next year if they are the starters in the outfield? view post

So it seems John's been fired and all of his entries have been stricken from the record. I guess any photos will have to be altered by the NGB - the Nutting division of the KGB. Stalin would be proud. Let's see how long this entry stays up if it is indeed posted at all. view post
Where do you find a power hitter?
Seems the overwhelming need according to the poll above is a power hitter. Where do you find one of those in the off season. Who would it be and what would it cost? Just wonderin' view post

Bro, remember when you posted this? "Serg444 07-30-09 1:02 PM I also won't post if the Pirates don't lose 100 games. Fat chance of that happening. They ain't winning 20 more games. I could put the local high school kids up against this frail hitting group. This is almost comical how bad this team is. They might not get more than 5 hits in any game for the rest of the year. And they expect people to pay to see this garbage??" Well Jerk, are you a man of your word? You won't post here any more. You and any/all of your aliases are gone. Or are you a lying, suckin' off Adam Dunn, sack of crap? view post

Bay, McClutch, McClouth - OF's Rameriz, Wilson, Sanchez, Jones and Doumit. Duke, Malholm, Gorzo, Olendorhf 1-4 P's Pen has Burnett, Grabow. how hard would it have been to keep this team, how much better would they be? Contending for a wild card? view post
clement and Jones
Jones appears to be the real deal, I know it has only been 2 months but he is showing an ability to adjust to off speed pitches and curve balls. It appears AAA managers have figured out Clements weakness. His average has dropped 40 points in the past 3 weeks. The question is can he adjust and how are they pitching him differently? view post
Lastings Milledge

Seemingly Lastings Milledge has not learned a thing since his days with the Mets and Nationals. Milledge continues to push the envelope now with the Pirates. Allowing Milledge to wear uniform #85 a number normally seen not in baseball was the Pirates first mistake. Allowing Milledge to wear mostly white shoes with yellow strings was the second mistake. Also Milledge does not appear to be extending himself in the field especially on balls hit to the wall or in the corner. This guy has "problem" written all over him. view post
LaRoche and Atlanta a match made ...

in heaven. Is this the only team Adam can play for? He has had some impressive numbers since landing there. Maybe it is only his second half surge again or perhaps he is most comfortable in the Atlanta clubhouse? view post
Ronny Cedeno's Defense
Is it just me or has anyone else been impressed with Cedenos defense since he was obtained from the Seattle Mariners. He is so fluid when making the routine play. The play he made Monday night diving towards CF then flipping to Delwyn Young was incredible to complete the double play. His bat hasnt been that bad either so far. We might have given up a pretty good defensive SS but Cedeno has been a reasonable fascimile so far. view post
