Oh yeah, Serg: You're wrong about the 31 million dollar payroll. That is counting players currently on the team. We are paying about 39 million since we sent cash in deals, and paid guys for the first half. So we aren't as low as the Marlins, and we are just behind the Padres (who could deal Adrian today)

No way, we should have made all our trades with Sabean. We could have Bumgarner, Alderson, Villalona and Posey. lol. I'm still left wondering what would have happened if we would have taken on money in the Sanchez deal... Was it possible to get someone better?

So I saw last night the reason I believe we were able to rip the the cubs off with that trade. Dave Littlefield is a special assistant for the Cubs. We should have made all of our trades with them. We could have taken their entire minor league system.

First off, I edit out the words so you still can know what I'm saying. Secondly, I was saying Harrison was a scrappy 2B, like Pedroia. And third, if you really think Adam Dunn would be a smart pickup, consider this: Adam Dunn's WARP (wins above replacement player) last year was 1.7. Brandon Moss's WARP was 0.9. If Brandon Moss is as bad as you say he is, and Adam Dunn is as good as you think, why is it that Dunn wouldn't be much of an upgrade?

Ok Serg, Im glad you're gone! See you on the bandwagon soon, f***in retard. Dunn's the greatest player in baseball, yeah, my a**. And I never said Pearce was a good player, I said a case could be made for Pearce > LaRoche. I guess 12 year old kids don't know how to read yet. D*** Shame!

Hey everyone, since NH reads these posts, let's start a chant! Let's trade Doumit! *clap *clap *clap *clap *clap We've got Diaz! *clap *clap... If not tomorrow, this offseason would be fine. Now that we have done a 1 for 1 swap with Sanchez, I wonder if we could pull off a Doumit for Buchholz trade. Doumit is a step down from V-Mart, but he can play the same positions, and the price of just Buchholz isn't nearly what they offered for Victor. Buchholz and Alderson could be a fabulous 1-2 punch. Looking forward to tommorow! Cut back on payroll Neil!!! lol, that would get rid of Serg for sure! Btw, I said a case could be made for Pearce, because he doesn't ground into double plays while swinging at a 3-0 count, and the hole in his swing can't possibly be as big as LaRoche's.

If the Nationals could dump Dunn, I guarantee they would. Problem is, the only person stupid enough to trade for him (and take his salary) is fenced in an insane asylum. I heard the community has ruled that Serg needs to spend another 10 years in the asylum, for calling NH a jerk and ann a-hole. It just proves that he has anger problems, and doesn't know anything. Too bad for Serg.

Adam LaRoche was a salary dump, although he wasn't a guy who anyone still wanted here. Snell didn't want to come back, so I don't see how trading him and not having to pay next year's salary could be considered a dump. We traded a team full of average players, hopefully Doumit goes this winter, a Duke bidding war begins tomorrow, and we can get some good prospects for Capps. Then we would truly finish rebuilding.

A salary dump is when a team gets rid of a player it wanted to keep but couldn't afford. Snell was neither - we didn't want to keep him but could have afforded to if he had pitched like he cared.

Hart entered the season as the Cubs #6 prospect. He can be a great reliever, or a starter. I think the Pirates view him as being better than Gorzo. He seems like he should strikeout 1 batter per inning. If you see Josh Harrison's stats, I see him as a Dustin Pedroia type. He is small, and not too powerful, but he was a 2nd team NCAA All-America in 2008, and was a 6th round pick last year. Jose Ascanio is another strikeout type guy. He's 24, and looks like he can maintain an ERA under 3. Worst case, he's gonna be a reliever. Pretty good move by NH.

serg - good to see your therapy session is over. Since Snell was of no value to the Pirates, getting someone else to pay his salary isn't a dump.

ESPN writes it as a done deal, citing the PG. The PG says it's no more than a maybe.

It looks like Neal "The Wheel" is at it again. Gorzo and Grabow to the Cubbies?

I agree that Russell isn't the greatest manager in the MLB, and the fact that he changes lineups (pulls Andy LaRoche for Vasquez in the 9th) can be upsetting, but Joe Torre wouldn't make us much better. When the talent is in place, we will find out if Russell is good or not. Just as it's unfair to judge a AAA team's players based on the wins/losses (*cough Serg), it's unfair to judge a manager if he has McCutchen, and... well... future pieces. I don't like JR too much, but I do think he deserves a fair chance.

I haven't went to a game in probably 5 years because I was disgusted with the patch work approach that past management was doing. If NH signs a low budget FA he's just trade bait witing to happen. I don't mind that if it lets a real prospect a little extra time to develope, but signing guys like Mientkiewicz & giving them ocer 300 at bats I don't agree with.

Russell is just a low cost babysitter they hired to get them thru. the rough patch. He;ll be gone when things are in place. Please don't think I'm backing Nutting. I want him gone also, but I'm a realist also & know he's making way to much money off of his investment to sell. So I look for the next best alternative, that actualy can happen. That is if he makes est. 100M between 2007 & 2011 or 2012. Maybe just maybe he'll start increasing payroll by roughly 15M a year as these new guys progress & have depth behind them.

When he came in he didn't take the time to fully evaluate. He jumped the gun. I do believe that was right after a batting title & a solid pitching year from Snell. He wanted to come in & make people happy & he did with those signings. He learned his lesson{Don't worry about people like Serg} & make baseball decisions not popularity decisions.

what they have to do is play these young players for a period of time to see if they can get it done in the big leagues and not just give a player 1 or 2 weeks and give up on him like they have in the past.
