CREATE A NEW TOPICRonny Cedeno's Defense
Is it just me or has anyone else been impressed with Cedenos defense since he was obtained from the Seattle Mariners. He is so fluid when making the routine play. The play he made Monday night diving towards CF then flipping to Delwyn Young was incredible to complete the double play. His bat hasnt been that bad either so far. We might have given up a pretty good defensive SS but Cedeno has been a reasonable fascimile so far.

Are you saying your not intelligent Serg, because your still here. Please go with your "All-Stars" to anywhere but here. If I wasn't such a big Steeler fan,I would be rooting for a 4 -12 season just so Serg would end all of his misery. I hate to see you in such pain.

I've avoided this blog for well over a week and decided to look it over again and its the same old stuff. Here's hoping one day everyone will just ignore Serg and the intelligent sports fans can once again discuss the team.

"And Ghost, you can always ask the guard at the front gate to let you in my neighborhood bro!" WOW! I didn't know they let nutjobs like you have computer access in psych wards. And visiting hours are? Do I need to ask the doctor? Do I need to leave behind shiny objects? Will you be on your meds if I come or do I need to make sure I'm protect? *******. P.S. This "bro" shit. Getting old.

I forgot that you are the idiot who believes that he is talking to Neal Huntington through a message board. I guess I have to realize who I am attempting to talk to. You dont care about anyone elses opinion besides your own. I at least try to look at it objectively... im not getting conned its called rooting for a team through thick and thin and not being a bandwagon sheep like you are Serg. You will be the first off the bandwagon once the Steelers or Penguins show signs of tailing off. Once more Neal Huntington doesnt read what you write and the Steelers didnt send you a personal message to renew your tickets you imbecile!

who is writing off anyone from that trade.morton was major league ready.locke was the throw in, hernandez was like milledge, taking a chance on a player who had a rep as having a bad attitude.

Writing off Gorkys for having a sub-par season with Altoona is absurd. He is 21 (1 year older than Cutch in AA) but he is putting up almost identical numbers, just with a few less HRs. I'll save you some time looking it up: Cutch: .258/.327/.383 with 10HRs and 83 Ks in 118 games. Gorkys: .261/.313/.348 with 3 HRs and 57 Ks in 72 games. Just a reminder, Gorkys hit much better with the Braves (probably because Blair County Ballpark is not as hitter-friendly) and then he started playing better when Jose Tabata came back from his hamstring injury (Either due to protection in the lineup, or good chemistry between the two... either way, it seems promising).

Lancem, Edwin Jackson was always a pitcher with "great stuff" and "loads of potential". I compared him to Morton, because that's what we hear about Morton. Pitching coaches deserve a lot of credit for a pitcher's success or failures. Some pitchers are products of their pitching coach (refer to Zito, Barry). And as a side note, Morton was not the centerpiece of the deal. Gorkys was the main piece, Locke was a great second piece, and Morton was the throw-in.

grtsm, don't give the pitching coach all the credit for edwin jackson,he went from 5-15 with a 5.76 era in 2007 to 14-11 with a 4.42 era in 2008.it might just be that he is maturing as a pitcher and the coach has nothing to do with it.that said, morton is the key to that deal.if the pirates get what they think and what the braves thought of him you are looking at a top of the rotation pitcher.

Serg, You call me a moron but read the post again. I was not comparing Beckett to Morton in the terms of what they have done in the career. I was making the point that anyone can get rocked in a given start like Morton did. Beckett got rocked, CC has been rocked a time or two this year, that is what happens in baseball. You take it as he will be a career journeyman with one bad start. Opie has a bad game but you never say well i was wrong about that one. You have said the same things on here repeatedly... and i am going to say something on here repeatedly to you.. if you hate the team so much and their moves so much move on! get another team and try to be positive about them.

Right now, Morton makes the McLouth deal look somewhat even (if you throw out the Cubs game). If Gorkys or Locke reach the majors, I don't think anyone would argue that we got a good deal for Nate. With Morton's stuff, I think that he can be a great reliever at worst. He has the ability to be a great starter though, and you would have to think that a year of work with Joe Kerrigan could turn Morton into a great pitcher. Look at Edwin Jackson in Detroit, the right coach made him great, "Salt Man" might be the same way.

I'm not sure but didn't Florida trade Beckett under those circumstances. Serg I had the same feeling about Maholm when he 1st came up as you do with Morton. I like Morton's stuff, but I always liked Kip Wells's stuff also. Hopefully he turns out more like Maholm then Wells. Everything I read about the trade from the Atlanta papers was Morton was the 3rd best prospect out of the trade. But please quit acting like you know how everyone of these prospects are going to turn out. No one knows for sure one way or the other. At the same point in there careers Gorky is way ahead of Nate. It doesn't mean he's going to turn out better, but we just don't know that he won't either.

Serg I finally agree with a couple of thing you said, but the Opie issue you keep bringing up is just plain retarded. He played in 3 games 7 K's & about 4 horrible defensive plays. He is the worst defensive player in baseball period bar none. But every time someone mentions how bad his defense is or how many at bats he gives away with all the K's You refuse to acknowledge it. Please just one time admit how pathetic his D is. Someone said it before he's a modern day Dave Kingman.
